Fast Forward to January
URBAN-X got off to a fantastic start earlier this year and graduated nine exceptional companies from our first cohort. We are exceedingly proud of them!
Way back when (you know, the stone age), our second cohort was scheduled to get underway before summer left us. But we don’t control all the variables on planet Earth (if you know someone, wire us up, k?). In between the heat of summer, the general amusement associated with NYC construction, running into Thanksgiving and the winter holidays, and our gigantic appetite for kick-ass maker toys, our schedule slipped. We started staring at an early to mid November start for our second cohort and decided that the interruptions of the holidays would be too much pain and suffering for everybody involved.
Thus, we have decided to push back our precious sophomore cohort to begin in early January. Our applicants have been informed. Our mentors have been informed. Our various building and maker-space suppliers have NOT been informed, so don’t tell them lest they let their guard down and slip on their 3D printer, chairs, CNC, and popcorn machine deliveries!
Our staff is eagerly reviewing hundreds of startups right now – and the many more yet to apply – to find the ten killer companies who will make up URBAN-X cohort 02. Although our application deadline has been extended to Noon ET on Tuesday November 29th, those startups who got their applications in by the original deadline will be eligible to join us at our new facility for a special event around the first of November. Watch those inboxes!
We’re beyond thrilled to be able to offer the URBAN-X companies the full suite of amenities available at A/D/O including programs and events, a restaurant by Claus Meyer and Fredrik Berselius, and a design store offering inspirational products. We’re now in the process of finalizing our prototyping and fab lab, and can’t wait for you to see the space come to life this winter.
Watch this space for news about our grand opening events and URBAN-X open house! Finally, as always, if you’re a startup solving really big important urban life problems, we’d love to hear from you: apply now!
